Airport security lines got you down?
Well, the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles may be able to help.
Yes folks, the DMV.
This week a new TSA Pre-Check center opened in the DMV office in Tysons Corner. It’s part of a broader push by the TSA to make it easier for people to take advantage of TSA Pre✓, which offers expedited screening at airports across the U.S.
Earlier this year, TSA announced a partnership that allows travelers to enroll in the program at selected H&R Block centers in at least 27 states, including the District and Maryland. Currently, there are enrollment centers at Reagan National and Dulles International airports as well as a center on Duke Street in Alexandria. The opening of the Tysons center makes Virginia the first state to offer enrollment in the program at the same place it offers traditional DMV services.
The move comes several months after the agency faced criticism for long waits at airport screening lines just before the start of the busy summer travel season.

In exchange for providing fingerprints, undergoing a background check and paying an $85 fee, travelers enrolled in TSA Pre✓ in most instances are able to bypass traditional airport screening lines at more than 150 U.S. airports. You get to keep your shoes and belts on, and you don’t have to remove your laptops from their bags. The fee is good for five years. Once approved, you’re assigned a Known Traveler Number, which can be used to enter expedited security lines.
More than three million people are currently enrolled.
If you’re interested, go to www.TSA.gov to complete a pre-enrollment process. In-person background interviews are conducted at the Tysons DMV office, 968 Gallows Road, Vienna, Va. The office also takes walk-in applicants.
